This checkbox enables the simulator to trap sleep instructions. Together with the trace buffer this allows the user to track drown sleep setup faults (i.e. CPU context not being setup correctly prior to entering sleep mode) and it allow the whole system to be stopped when one component enters sleep mode. This is very usefull in tracking down comms problems between multiple CPUs and also CPU to I2C bus devices.
